This country is tied up in more red tape than Northeastern (which I didn't think was possible with the NU shuffle and all.) I went to every single office on campus at least three or four time looking for simple things that we (the American kids) should've been prepped on before we came here. Here is a list of things that pissed me (and most of the other Northeastern kids) off:

Numero Uno: The internet took way too long to hook up, and no one on campus seemed to know why (Even the people at the computer services desk looked clueless and redirected us to another office.)

Numero Dos: WTF. The food sux. I didn't expect paying 10 Euro for a chicken nugget in between two pieces of cardboard. The only good things to eat here come from American fast food joints (i.e. McDonald's, Burger King, and Little Caesar's <---WTFOMFG they have Little Caesar's).

Numero Tres: A certain Northeastern student here with me who happens to be jewish and who happens to have AA as his initials(<---He's not that bad, but definitely needs his own bullet point on this shit list)

Numero Cuatro: The 'natives' are weird. I mean I feel bad for calling them that because then it looks like I'm saying they're comparable developmentally to say...I don't know...some cannibalistic tribes of the Amazon rainforest but whatever...freedom of speech bitch...(oh crap, I forgot I'm in a foreign country, but ehhh.) The men here, especially the younger generation, have an affinity for mullets, side bangs (not in a nice way), asymmetric haircuts, and hybrid hairdos---> think of a reverse mullet with long bangs in front flat against your face asymmetrically cut with short tight hair in back and a faux/mohawk on top. If that sounds weird and you can't get a mental picture, think of a rooster with down syndrome (aka Downie Roosters)

Numero Cinco: It's hard to meet people here because they're so clique-y but last night we went to an internationals welcoming party hosted by the 4th years and it really fun and we met a lot of people who we hope continue friendships with.

Numero Seis: I had heard that DCU was in a questionable area and for the most part that's untrue, but right next to campus is this area called Ballymun and think of wartime Bosnia in 1994 and you'll get the picture...(drugs, organised crime syndicates, and huge condemned apartment buildings)

Numero Siete: 6.60 euro for a pint of beer. Kill me.

Whew...that was a long list, but there have been some bright spots as well. I just have to get over these things I guess, we'll see, I'll keep you posted.

-Fisz

Soliloquy in G Minor: A Haiku

Spanish Butterfly
Open Door Shocks Me Purple
Down Syndrome Kid Laughs

Emotion Explosion

Here are three haikus that represent my soul.
